Your Artwork
If you're supplying your own artwork, please don't send it in MS Word. We'll only get cross! The programmes we use are Quark Xpress up to version 6.5, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop up to version CS2.
In terms of file formats, Quark Xpress (.qxd) is fine by us, and acceptable graphic files are EPS (.eps), ILLUSTRATOR (.ai) and TIFF (.tif). GIFs (.gif) and JPEGs (.jpg) are great for the web, but not for print.
You'll also need to scan images at 300 dpi, size them to your layout and do not stretch them.
Colour-wise, you should save files as CMYK or grayscale (not RGB). You'll also need to know about bleed. Nothing to do with Jack the Ripper, this simply means you have to expand your artwork 3mm or so, to ensure the whacking great hydraulic knife doesn't cut your artwork short.
You can submit these files via email, or burn them onto a Zip, CD or DVD.
Finally, please don't use web artwork for printed work, as the results won't be pretty. Trust us.
