What are the benefits of litho printing?
Litho printing techniques can be used to create all of the business stationery and marketing collateral we’ve grown to know and love. It’s a great option for business cards, stationery sets, brochures, magazines, leaflets, folders and bespoke ‘cut to shape’ prints that are often added to retail packs and product packaging.
Unlike digital printing, when you choose litho, you’re not limited to a four-colour process. Litho printers can work with CMYK or Pantone specials, and spot, special and metallic inks, along with UV varnishing, can be included in your design to enhance the print quality and add a unique finish to the end product. You can make use of a wider range of paper weights; in fact, litho presses can cope with 70gsm all the way up to 500gsm. Plus, litho printing is the most suitable option for large, solid, single-colour prints (such as limited edition prints and posters).
Choose litho printing if you’re looking for:
- Consistent images of great quality
- Multi-surface printing onto paper, card and plastics
- Longer runs
- Cheaper prices on larger orders
Litho print runs typically take longer to set up and dry, which is why turnaround times are slightly longer. But the sheer quality of the print will make up for the wait. Many of the printers I have close relationships with will run both B1 and B2 five colour presses with inline coating to make sure the run is completed as quickly as possible without compromising on the quality of the print.
